New Mexico, White Sands 2010

Earlier this month we went and visited New Mexico and Grandma and Grandpa Heckert and Mitchell again. The weather was gorgeous and we got to spend some much needed time together as a family. On our first day there we visited White Sands. We love this place.

This year we went sledding down the dunes for the first time. So much fun, but...

the climb back up almost killed us!

One of our many attempts at a family pic. It was just too sunny and windy.

I hope to get the rest of our trip up in the next couple of days, so stay tuned!

FInally...a graduation picture

We made it!!!! As of May 9th I am an official college graduate. For those who are wondering I graduated with a B.S. in Nutrition with an emphasis on food and wellness. For a quick summary here are the top 10 things I learned during my college study...

1. America is fat! 66% of adults are overweight or obese.
2. Being fat is expensive. 1 out of every 6 dollars spent in the U.S. goes to health care
3. For the first time in history we are decreasing our life expectancy from the previous generation
4. Less than 20% of adults exercise regularly
5. Decreasing body weight by 10% can significantly decrease chances for diabetes, heart disease, etc.
6.Talking about health care and weight issues is depressing
7.Small improvements to diet and activity make the most lasting changes
8. Moderation is a vital for prevention of weight gain and for weight loss
9. Fruit and vegetables are awesome
10. For best results increase physical activity and improve your diet.

So, as you can see, most of the time nutritionists are frustrated and depressed about the human condition. So people wake up, get some exercise and eat more fruits and vegetables and you will live a longer and better life!!!!!
