The end of school

 The end of school means one thing for us: Field Day!

Elise and I went to school to cheer on the girls as they raced and played.

 Above is Lily's class, they were so cute and I really loved her teacher, we will miss you Mrs. Galvin!

 Tug of War. The best part of this event was when the children asked us what "tug" meant, it took a little while, but they finally caught on!

The secret's out!

 

I knew I couldn't hide it forever...we adopted another dog.

 I will not bore anyone with the details of our dog history, but here we go again!

Our puppy's name is Daffodil and she is 5 months old and has been with us for 2 months, which is a record for us. She can do lots of tricks and the girls love her to pieces.

Emerald Isle 2013

 Last weekend we took a trip to Emerald Isle, NC to see Drew's parents. We were all very excited to get to the beach, and even though it was chilly and rainy, we had a very awesome time enjoying the ocean and family.

 Kate and Lily refused to let the chill bother them and were in their swimsuits swimming anytime we let them. I, on the other hand, did not put on my bathing suit once, its got to be at least 75 degrees before I am ever that uncovered!!!!

 Granddad Heckert spent some time showing the girls how to fish.

 Elise had the same opinion on the weather that I did. She stayed on the beach and dug in the sand.

 Drew really enjoyed fishing, but was not able to catch anything.

The rest of Kauai

 On Thursday we went tubing down an old sugar plantation irrigation ditch. The water was so so cold, but it was a neat experience.

 Thursday night was our luau, and it was so fun. The food was fantastic and hula dancers did a beautiful job.

 On our last morning we went out early to enjoy the beach at sunrise. What a great vacation!

The north shore

 On the 2nd day of our vacation we traveled up to the north shore and found not one, but two farmers markets en route. It was awesome! I had my first taste of fresh mango and passion fruit. YUM!

 Alot of Kauai is rugged and jungle-like. Jurassic Park was filmed on this island.

 The beautiful beaches were just amazing.

 It was pretty cool to see where the ocean had washed all the sand and dirt away from the roots, but those trees where still standing

 

Below: our view all our third day as we hung out at the hotel. My feet where the only part of me that saw the sun. I was so worried about sunburn that I hunched under any covering I could get. Drew, on the other hand was in the sun any moment he could get, which is why he looked like a lobster by the time we left.
